2011 was the year that Billboard celebrated the 1000th No. 1 song on the Hot 100. As we look back on this year in music, we're celebrating that milestone with a month-long series of videos --- one for each day of December -- chatting with 31 of the hitmakers who rocketed to the top of the chart since its inception in 1958. SEE THE FULL CHART HERE.
On day 24 of our 1,000 Hot No. 1s video series, we move from yesterday's pair of T.I. charttoppers --"Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" -- to a pair of Shaggy hits as we chat with the Jamaican singer/rapper about his No. 1s, "Angel" and "It Wasn't Me." "It was one of those records that, once it happened, it happened really really fast. . . It was just one of those joints that really resonated with people," Shaggy says of "It Wasn't Me" which spent two weeks at the top beginning Feb. 3, 2001. As for "Angel," Shaggy says he "was in South Africa when it was No. 1" less than two months later onMarch 31, 2001. "Funnily enough, I think that every record that we have that's a massive record, our problem is convincing others that it's special," he adds with a smile.
