Dancehall artistes Twin of Twins carried out a lyrical onslaught on controversial selector Tony Matterhorn in their recently released single 'Cancer Free World,' where they creatively used the disc jock's name to demolish his character with thought provoking word play.
The song came into play following Tony Matterhorn's public statement in THE STAR that he would diss the Twins anywhere he saw them. The rift started after the Twins made a comment in an interview in Atlanta where they accused the selector of not playing their songs.
disrespectful and stupid
According to Patrick 'Curly Locks' Gaynor, one half of the Twins, the comment they made was not done out of disrespect and they were just speaking their mind. "Matterhorn is the one that started the disrespect. He just became disrespectful and stupid," he said.
The Twins also questioned the selector's credibility with his latest song Dancehall Duppy.
According to Curley Locks, Twins of Twins were calling names in songs long before Matterhorn recorded Dancehall Duppy and acting like he was the first one to do it.
"We inspired him to make that song, we have the copyrights to call people's name so Matterhorn naah duh nutting new," he said.
The Twins also said that Tony Matterhorn is a hypocrite because he dissed people in Dancehall Duppy then went on to big them up at the end because he is a coward. They claimed the selector has tried to repress their career because they refuse to join the politics of dancehall. "We refuse to shut up and join a side," Patrick said.
They further stated that Tony Matterhorn is dissing them with people song. "Him diss wi with him mouth and then him play people song as defence. Him fi know seh a nuh him a get the forward, is the artiste tune a get the forward. A fi him own song him fi try use, wi a nuh selector suh wi naah trace wid nuh man," he said.
The Twins also claim that they are not trying to get attention by dissing Tony Matterhorn, because their new CD is doing well regionally and internationally, unlike Tony Matterhorn who hasn't had a hit song since Dutty Wine.
Meanwhile, a line from the latest diss song, which is getting favourable attention on the Internet and radio stations said: "Yuh expose yuself wid di name wey yu find, cause Matterhorn a mountain wey bare man a climb".
Twin of Twins recently released Stir It Up Volume 9, and will release their movie Ching Pow in November. Meanwhile, Curley Locks is putting the finishing touch to his first book The Road To Zion.
