During the past three weeks, runners from the United States to India to Australia logged over 50,000 kilometers to earn their way to the natural wonders and ancestral sites of Java Island, Indonesia. After 13 seasons with Nike, Manchester United have just announced a new £70 million-a-year with adidas. This is more than double the amount the historic club currently receives from Nike, beating off U.S. competitors such as Warrior and Under Armour. The staggering £750m GBP deal is also underlined by a recently-unveiled partnership with American auto manufacturer Chevrolet, thereby ushering in a substantially revitalizing revenue stream for the club. The deal will start for the ’15-’16 season as Nike’s will continue for one more campaign. Details about the length of the contract are not known yet but it will be a boost for United as they aim to bounce back to the former glory days, after failing to qualify for this season’s Champions League.
