Dancehall deejay Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, may be in trouble with the law yet again.

The Jamaica Star has been informed that a report was filed against the deejay and a member of his entourage at the Anchovy Police Station in St James.

The police are reporting that about 7 p.m., on Friday, the 51-year-old complainant and his 17-year-old son were travelling along Belmont Road, St James, when they came upon a group of vehicles travelling in a procession.

It is alleged that the complainant stopped at a section of the roadway to allow the procession to pass.

After letting through a number of vehicles, an argument developed between the complainant and Mavado. It is understood that the argument developed after the deejay told the complainant that his vehicle could not pass in the allotted space.

Reports are that Mavado then used his vehicle to hit the complainant's vehicle causing damages to the front door and injuries to his hand.

Following this, a member of the deejay's entourage allegedly alighted from another vehicle and used a machete to slap the complainant's son on his mouth.

The Anchovy police yesterday confirmed the incident and are seeking the deejay.

In recent times, Mavado has had a number of run-ins with the law. In May, he was charged with malicious destruction of property, and in June, he was charged with assault following an incident at the Quad nightclub in New Kingston where his friend Conroy Edwards was shot and killed by a policeman.

Popular Dancehall deejay & Jag One Productions (J.O.P) frontman, Sheldon “Aidonia” Lawrence has officially joined forces with Vybz Kartel’s formerbusiness associate, Corey Todd. Aidonia joins the likes of former Vybz Kartel protégé, JahVinci, Portmore Empire’s former producer, Notnice as well as the self-proclaimed “King Of The Dancehall,” Beenie Man to align with Todd.

Aidonia has a signed a management deal with Todd & reports suggest that the nature of the deal includes the J.O.P leader doing marketing and endorsements for a new product line that Todd has in the works. 

Jahvinci will also play a key role in the public endorsing of said products according to the American born businessman, though he’s remained silent with regards to the details of their roles & the product line he’ll be unveiling. Aidonia released a statement speaking of excitement working with Corey Todd following weeks of talks & insists that this move will greatly benefit his career moving forward.

Todd is known mostly for his joint venture with Vybz Kartel; promoting the popular Street Vybz Rum brand & later creating the party series, “Street Vybz Thursdays” at the formerly name club, “The Building.” However, Todd severed ties from Kartel & the Empire in May following death threats Todd claimed Kartel made against him.

Since disassociating with the self-proclaimed “Dancehall Hero,” he’s worked with Beenie Man to promote their new line of rum products, “Yaad Swag Rum.” Todd is also promoting “Club Riddim,” the nightclub previously known as “The Building,” & “Asylum Nightclub” which currently hosts “Yaad Swag Thursdays” at the club.

After months of delay, Twin of Twins will  finally be able to release Stir It Up Vol. 9. The skit-centered album was scheduled for release in March. However, there were some delays because it was being reviewed by their lawyer who was checking to see if there were any breaches of the law.

Now, Patrick Gaynor said the album is available for pre-order on iTunes and will be officially released there tomorrow. The physical version of the CD will be made available on July 6.

“There was a lot of tug of war between distribution and certain legality but it’s finally coming out and it’s going to be out on June 28. There was a delay and almost a stop order but we fight and mek sure seh it go through,” Gaynor told THE STAR, noting that the album will be launched at G-Wee Sports Bar, 1A Caledonia Avenue.
